The MBOA MAC core is designed for applications that target the Ultra WideBand space. It can achieve a throughput of 480 Mbps at MAC-PHY layer level and is scalable to achieve 1 Gbps throughput. It provides features for Security, different types of Acknowledgement schemes, power save mode. It has support for Wireless USB also. It is easily customizable to different types of host interface. The time critical functionalities are implemented in hardware while the control functionalities are implemented in firmware. This provides the flexibility to customize the solution to specific applications without a hardware revision. Together with our complementary IPs, the MBOA MAC IP provides a complete solution for implementing Wireless USB and Wireless 1394.

  • Implements MBOA MAC IP as per MBOA MAC specification and MAC PHY Interface Specification
  • Optimum hardware-software partitioning for reduced gate count as well as low MIPS requirements; low power design for MAC Hardware
  • Data throughput of 480 Mbps at MAC-PHY layer level; Architecture scalable to support 1 Gbps throughput at MAC-PHY level
  • Support for PCA (Priority based Channel Access) and DRP (Distributed Reservation Protocol)
  • Support DRP streams up to a maximum of 32
  • Support for CCMP Security engine in Hardware
  • Support for Immediate Ack, Burst-ACK and Noack
  • Support for Dynamic Beacon period
  • Support for hibernation mode (power save)
  • Support for Wireless USB
  • Customizable host interface. Reference implementation interfaces with ARM's AHB
  • FPGA based Reference Platform available with ARM9 processor; easily customizable for any embedded application
